Forum of Parliaments

Forum of Parliaments of the ICGLR set up on 4th December, 2008 with the aim of making a parliamentary contribution to the implementation of the Pact and its General Secretariat is based in Kinshasa, DRC. Its main mission is to “facilitate the effective engagement of parliamentarians in the implementation of the Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes region and its Protocols”. >>>Forum of Parliaments Website.

Civil Society Forum

The Regional Civil Society Forum was formally established at a General Assembly in Bujumbura, Burundi on 7th July, 2011 followed by election of an Executive Committee and adopted a plan of action after a transitional period of five years.

Women Forum

The Regional Forum for Women was established on 18th December, 2010 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It plays an important role as an advisory body on gender issues, sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) as well as on the well-being of children.

Private Sector Forum

Private Sector Forum was established on 30th August, 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by the representatives of the Member States during which a provisional executive committee was elected. The Forum participated in the Regional Private Sector Investment Conference held on 23rd to 24th February, 2016 in Kinshasa, DRC.

Youth Forum

The Regional Multifunctional Youth Forum was established on 21st July, 2014 and consultations are ongoing for the establishment of its permanent Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya in accordance with the decision of the July 2014 Special Summit that validated Kenya’s offer to host it. The Host Country Agreement establishing the Secretariat was signed in Nairobi on 31st January 2022.

Genocide Prevention Committee

Established in Kampala, Uganda in September 2010 in line with the Protocol on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity and all forms of Discrimination.
